Blood donation camp by CIARIEWA

A blood donation camp was organized at ICAR-Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI) by the CIARIEWA, the employees’ welfare association of CIARI to commemorate the World Blood Donor Day on 14th June 2017. The programme was organised in collaboration Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society & Blood Bank, G.B. Pant Hospital, Port Blair of Andaman & Nicobar Administration under the theme “What can you do?” Give Blood, Give now, Give often.
Mr. Abhay Kumar Srivastava, organizing secretary welcomed the gathering and the team from Andaman & Nicobar AIDS Control Society. Dr. M. Joy, Project Director briefed the gathering about importance of blood donation with special reference to control of diseases which may cause due to blood transfusion.
Dr. S. Dam Roy, Director CIARI and Patron of CIARIEWA, encouraged the donors for their selfless participation in the programme to serve the mankind by donating blood, which is considered to be the greatest donation. He also requested them to take part in such type of social activities in future. Twenty staff members of the institute donated blood for the good cause.  The session was coordinated by Dr.M.S. Kundu secretary, CIARIEWA. Dr A.K. Singh member of CIARIEWA proposed the vote of thanks.
