Blue Revolution at Neil

“Blue Revolution”, an awareness programme on the ongoing Departmental Schemes and Programmes under the Central Sector Scheme was conducted by the Department of Fisheries recently at Gram Panchayat Hall, Neil Island. Around 60 fishers and fish farmers/agricultural farmers attended the programme. Mr. S. C Dey, Director of Fisheries and Mr. J. P Tiwari, Asst. Engineer (Ref.) spoke about the various Schemes and Programmes of the Department of Fisheries and also on the Central Sector Scheme “Blue Revolution” advising the fishers and fish farmers to avail the benefits in order to uplift their socio economic status.
The fishers were advised to follow the safety instructions like carrying of identity cards, life saving appliances, DAT etc. while venturing into sea and also to comply with the colour codes of fishing boats and display/ painting of Registration number at either side of bow of respective fishing boats. Mr. Ram Krishna Biswas, Pradhan, Neil Kendra and Mr. Joy Kumar Das, Sarpanch, Neil Kendra were also present on the occasion. The Pradhan, Neil Kendra, while addressing the gathering encouraged the fishers of the Island to avail the maximum benefits extended by the Department of Fisheries and also requested the Department for creation of various facilities for betterment of the fisher community of Neil Island. The programme was also attended by the officials from Department of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Neil Island.
