In a big relief for the incumbent Adhyaksha of Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, the Calcutta High Court on Monday lifted the freeze on the under construction building of Baby Fareeda located at Kodiyaghat in South Andaman. Following the orders of the High Court, a revenue team along with police personnel unsealed the building of Baby Fareeda in the presence of her husband, Mr P Mustafa at around 12 noon on Tuesday.
The High Court, in its order, directed the Tehsildar of Port Blair to open the premises of the petitioner to have access thereto. It also directed the petitioner not to carry out any further construction in any manner in the building. As per the orders of the Court, the revenue team also took note of the construction carried out so far. “I am elated after the High Court’s verdict. “Today the revenue officials unsealed the building as per the orders of the Court. A section of the local media levelled baseless allegations of unlawful possession of the landed property. In fact, the land in question belonged to the forefathers of my husband and was sub-divided among legal heirs in 2015 after which the construction work was carried out. Following reports in a section of the paid media here, the Tehsildar of Port Blair sealed the building earlier this year. The order was challenged before the High Court, which granted us relief on Monday,” said Baby Fareeda speaking to EOI.
