After the Adhyaksha, Zilla Parishad, South Andaman, Baby Fareeda herself registered a complaint against the reporter of The Phoenix Post (TPP), Razia Begum, villagers of Calicut, South Andaman, came out in support of Baby Fareeda on Monday. As per the reports, villagers of Calicut in a joint petition signed by more than 100 persons, submitted a letter to the Lt. Governor, A & N Islands with copies of the Member of Parliament and other senior officials of the administration, demanding strict action against Ms. Razia Begum besides instructing the editor of the daily to refrain from publishing stories based on false, biased and malafide information in future. The villagers also informed that they will stage protest through democratic means if their demands are not met within a reasonable period.
“Ms. Razia Begam insulted the Pradhan and the Adyaksha of Zilla Parishad in full public view including the police personnel on duty, which is unbecoming of a reporter of a newspaper, notwithstanding the fact that she is the sister of Mr. Abdul Majeed, the husband of Rehanath Bibi. Later, the reporter came out with a report in The Phoenix Post dated 1/12/2017 levelling false and baseless allegations on the Adhyaksha of Zilla Parishad. She also included in her report many false statements to supplement  her nefarious designs, which has not been said by the Adhyaksha. The Adhyaksha had all along been trying to pacify us in spite of the abuses hurled at her by Ms. Razia Begum. The treatment meted out to the Adyaksha of Zilla Parishad and the Pradhan of GP Calicut by Ms Razia Begum is unbecoming of a newspaper reporter and hurt the dignity of the elected PRIs,” villagers stated in the letter.
