In order to rein in a section of the unscrupulous traders and hoteliers the Department of Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs has decided to take stern action against against them for violating  the provision contained in the Legal Metrology (Packaged commodities) Rules, 2011 framed under the Legal Metrology Act, 2009. The traders and hoteliers are reportedly selling the packaged mineral water more than the MRP from the customers. Taking into cognizance of such unfair trade practices, all concerned are hereby advised to refrain themselves from excess charging of any packaged commodities including packaged drinking water failing which, stringent legal action, as deemed fit, shall be initiated against them.
