CG Dist. Commander meets civic chief

The District Commander (South & Little Andaman) of Coast Guard met the Chairman, Municipal Council on Monday and explained involvement of Coast Guard in Swachh Bharat and Swatch Sagar Abhiyan on the occasion. A copy of photo book depicting Indian Coast Guard’s active involvement in the Government of India flagship programme was presented to the Chairman. District Commander extended his gratitude for support of PBMC towards Indian Coast Guard efforts to conduct such events.
PBMC Chairman was also briefed about the upcoming Pollution Response Exercise scheduled to be conducted on 28/29th of November  at Port Blair wherein the Shoreline Cleanup will be exercised for real time scenario of oil pollution reaching to these pristine beaches.  The District Commander also highlighted the importance of pooling of non-governmental organisation and volunteers in carrying out Shoreline Cleanup. The green initiatives undertaken by Coast Guard like Segregated Waste Collection Centre and utilisation of Solar Wind Power by Indian Coast Guard were also discussed during the interaction.
