CG educates Loha Barrick villagers on safety practice at sea

The Indian Coast Guard, A & N Region conducted a community interaction programme (CIP) at Loharbarrack in coordination with the Gram Panchayat. Over 120 people attended the event having five point agenda, to educate people on safety practices whilst out at sea, connect the local fishing populace with coastal security mechanism, importance of early information in case of eventuality and to create awareness on ill effects of liquor & drug abuse.
The Coast Guard Team undertook training and practical demonstration of safety and survival equipment including air droppable life rafts, helicopter rescue strop and distress alert transponders (DAT).
Yoga classes and lecture on drug abuse were also conducted in consonance with International Yoga day and International Drug Abuse day on 21 Jun and 26 Jun respectively.  The significance of sharing the information at the earliest in respect of incidents at sea was emphasised by the speakers during the interaction including Mr Ram Bala, Pradhan, Wandoor Gram Panchayat along with other forest and fishery officials. The support and assistance of Mr Rahul Malik, SHO and local police for crowd management and civic discipline enabled smooth conduct of event.
