CG honours best performing units, vendors

The Coast Guard conducted a felicitation ceremony for CG ships, Air Units and CG Stations based in Andaman and Nicobar region on Wednesday. The event commenced with welcome ceremony and inaugural speech by Inspector General KR Suresh, Tatrakshak Medal, Commander Coast Guard Region(A&N), followed by prize felicitation to best Taut Ship Trophy, Most Spirited Ship, Best Sports Unit, Best Interceptor Boat and best unit having Cyber Security.
In his address, the Flag Officer praised the efforts of Coast Guard here for giving their best on all fronts, be it operations or contributing in GoI flag ship programmes. He complimented all Commanding Officers and their team for doing commendable job in the preceding year and praised their dedication and josh despite being posted in remote islands and sailing in rough seas to meet service motto “Vayam Rakshamah”.
Under Make in India initiative, Government of India has been encouraging all entrepreneurs and firms to develop in-house technology to manufacture maximum products in India only and to be less dependent on import. Considering same, Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N) consented to introduce make in India  “Coast Guard (A&N) Vendors Trophy” during CG week celebration from year 2017-18 to recognise and encourage local Yards/PAC/Vendors & local ship repairers of this region. Under the new initiative, three trophies have been instituted, namely best in refit yard, best in repair & services and best product & supplies. M/s Marine Engineers & Trade Services, Port Blair; M/s Dweep Engineering Works, Port Blair and M/s Rishab engineering Works, Diglipur won these trophies respectively for year 2017-18.
