CG rescues 6 fishers off Kalipur beach

The Indian Coast Guard,  A & N  region rescued six fishermen from fishing boat Betal-2 in distress off Kalipur beach in Northern Andaman on Friday. The Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) here received  a request from the owner of fishing boat Betal -2 for rescue. On receipt of information, Coast Guard promptly launched Coast Guard ship C-147 from Mayabunder.
Fishing boat Betal-2 with six fishermen onboard sailed from Juglighat on July 12 towards Mayabunder and her engine failed off Kalipur beach. Crew could not rectify the defect and subsequently FB owner      Mr. P Chiranjeevlu requested Coast Guard for rescue and tow. Coast Guard ship  C-147 successfully towed the boat braving rough seas and strong winds and handed over the boat off Mayabundar to fellow fishermen.
