CIAR training on crop protection method

The Central Institute of Agricultural Research, under the Agricultural Science Center, North and Central Andaman organised "Operation and Maintenance of Crop Protection Device (CPD)" recently for village farmers of Mohanpur, Kishorenagar Gram Panchayat. The 3 day training programme was conducted for men and women farmers who were welcomed by Dr. Shailesh Kumar, Fisheries Specialist, KVK.
In his address, Dr Kumar highlighted the importance of Krishi Vigyan Kendra and how by adopting various schemes of the Kendra, the farmers can improve their income manifold. In the training, agriculture engineering specialist, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North and Central Andaman, engineer Manoj Kumar spoke of the importance of plant protection equipment, hand-operated and operated power powered sprayer, care and maintenance of sprayer. The use of various types of weeders in paddy fields, on the use of pesticide in the drug spraying / drip irrigation system in vegetable crops etc. was highlighted by Mr. D. Basantia, horticulture expert. Forty farmers participated in this programme, of which 13 were women. The program was conducted by engineer Manoj Kumar, SMS. (agricultural engineering) of Krishi Vigyan Kendra, North and Central Andaman and supervised by Senior Scientist Dr. B. L. Kashinath under the overall leadership of Dr. A. Kundu, Director, Central Island Agricultural Research Institute.
