CIARI’s agromet bulletin for farmers

The Central Island Agricultural Research Institute has released the agromet bulletin for farmers for the period from March 14 to 18. In the bulletin, CIARI forecast partly cloudy weather in the next five days. In South Andaman and in North and Middle Andaman no rainfall and in Nicobar Island 32 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 32 to 33 oC with minimum temperature of 24 to 25 oC, whereas the maximum and minimum relative humidity is expected to be in the range of 55 to 73 % and 43 to 69 %, respectively in Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Wind speed of 4 to 19 kmph is expected from North Easterly direction. Weather based agro advisories from 14th to 18th March, 2018.
Farmers of South Andaman have been advised to spray Mancozeb @ 2 g/lit twice at 10 days interval to control downy mildew in cucurbits, remove and burn the plants showing viral infection such as leaf curling, yellowing and mosaic in Bhendi and Chilli. Provide vitamin-C and electrolyte along with cool drinking water to the poultry birds to prevent from heat stress. In Nicobar, farmers are advised to soil application of 2.5 kg Trichoderma viridae mixed with 12.5 tones farm yard manure in 1 ha of coconut palm and provide vitamin-C and electrolyte along with cool drinking water to the poultry birds to prevent from heat stress.
