CIARI’s agromet bulletin for farmers

Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI) has predicted that cloudy weather with moderate rainfall is likely to occur in Andaman and Nicobar Islands during next five days. In North and Middle Andaman 50 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature in North and Middle Andaman will be 30 to 31 degree Celsius with minimum temperature of   26 degree Celsius. In South Andaman 95 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature in South Andaman will be 29 to 31 degree Celsius with minimum temperature of 25 to 26 degree Celsius. In Nicobar Islands 70 mm of rainfall is expected during this period. The maximum temperature will be 29 to 30 degree Celsius with minimum temperature of 25 to 26 degree Celsius.
The Farmers of North, Middle and South Andaman have been advised by CIARI to transplant long duration rice in the main field and use 2-3 seedlings per hill at 20 x 10 cm spacing during this period. Farmers must avoid spraying of any pesticides on vegetables that are at the stage of flowering as moderate rainfall is expected. Those engaged in poultry farming must provide three vaccinations to the poultry birds against Ranikhet disease during the six month of growing phase. Those engaged in pig farming in the Nicobar Islands have been advised to do vaccination to pig and piglets, with the consultation of local veterinary doctors.
