Port Blair
3 Mar 2018

Agricultural Scientists of Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (CIARI), Port Blair went on a peaceful protest on Thursday to demand for implementation of 7th CPC and 5 working days a week. Scientists of ICAR are the major contributors in the saga of Green, white, blue revolution working incessantly to serve the nation’s food security and welfare of the farming community in the backdrop of climate change and the dwindling resources viz., insufficient manpower and research funding. Even when  Government of India has approved the implementation of 7th Pay Commission it is not been implemented while most of the Central Government workforce of the nation including all scientific organizations have been drawing their revised salary emoluments as per the 7th  Pay Commission for more than a year including the ICAR except the scientists fraternity. The local unit of scientists’ forum at ICAR-CIARI, Port Blair has submitted a memorandum to the Director, CIARI to facilitate early action on the genuine demands submitted . Similar peaceful demonstrations were held all over the country by the Agricultural Research Service Scientist of Indian Council of Agricultural Research.
