CIP by Coast Guard at Baratang

A community interaction programme (CIP) was organised by the Coast Guard Air Enclave Port Blair at Kadamtala, middle Andaman in co-ordination with Kadamtala Gram Panchayat. The CIP was attended by about 80 people who were educated on safety practices whilst out at sea. To connect the local fishing populace to the coastal security, the importance of early information in case of any eventuality and awareness on basic first aid at sea was explained. The CIP had three separate aspects to interact and involve the people in the programme-lectures & illustrations on social agenda, practical demonstrations and practice on safety procedures and Basic First Aid awareness among local populace.
The Coast Guard Safety Team undertook training and practical demonstration of safety and survival equipment including usage of lifebuoys, engaging of helicopter rescue strop and distress alert transponders (DAT). A lecture on first aid, snake bite and burn injury was conducted by Surg Lt. Abhay Nair. The emphasis of communication and early information of accidents and incidents was stressed by each speaker during the interaction. Sh. S Mondal, Pradhan Kadamtala Gram Panchayat and Mrs. Sapna, Panchayat Secretary, acknowledged the role of Coast Guard to the service of the Local community with special mention and expression of gratitude for the search operations. The support and assistance of fisheries department, local police and civic discipline enabled the interaction programme a great success. The Coast Guard officials present at the venue expressed appreciation for the huge participation and assistance of the local civic authorities for the smooth and successful conduct of the event.
