CITU local unit pays homage to veteran leader

The 34th death anniversary of veteran trade  union leader  PKS Prasad was observed throughout the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on Sunday jointly by Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association and CITU. Various programmes were organized to mark the occasion. The main function was held at Crusade  House, Phoenix Bay where wreaths were laid on the  Memorial Column of late PKS Prasad  on behalf  of various trade unions, CITU, CPI (M)   Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association, etc. which was followed by a commemorative meeting.   KG Das, B. Chandrachoodan, Pronob Banerjee and TS Sreekumar spoke on the occasion while SN Mishra, Vice President NGOs’ Association presided over.  Leaders recalled the untiring work done by Com PKS Prasad in organizing government employees and workers in Andaman and Nicobar Islands and various historical struggles conducted by the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association and Unions under his leadership, because of which government employees and workers now enjoy various benefits. 

At Diglipur, a commemorative meeting was held in which the efforts made by PKS Prasad in organizing the working class in the islands was recalled. S.Arumugam and NK Paul spoke on the occasion. 

At Rangat, a meeting was held in the office of the NGOs’ Association at Rangat where tributes were paid to late PKS Prasad. Akbar Ali, Adaikkan, Natarajan, R. Muralidharan Pillai and Suresh Kumar spoke on the occasion.
