City’s road expansion
Work for the city’s major road expansion project has gained momentum immediately after rains subsided. Awarded by the Andaman Public Works Department last year, the city’s first ‘Four- Lane Road’ project is expected to be completed as per schedule. After completion of the drainage work alongside, stone aggregates have now been stocked at the site for the road expansion work. The project after completion will provide huge respite for motorists from congestion experienced in the city during peak hours and to cater to growing vehicular traffic in the city.

HDFC’s initiative
Road signage installed by HDFC Bank, Port Blair branch in different parts of the city is drawing praise for the agency. While government agencies have failed to provide the facility mainly for the benefit of tourists visiting these islands, the corporate agency as part of its social responsibility erected the signages at vantage point in the city. Signage is a kind of visual graphic created to provide wayfinding information in places such as streets or inside/outside of buildings to the general public. Besides adding to the city beautification, signages primarily help in disseminating information to the public so that the receiver can make cognitive decisions based on the information provided.
