NCC cadets donate blood
A blood donation camp was organsed at the Annual Training Camp 2017 of Naval NCC at ITF ground here on Monday. The camp was organised in association with the Andaman and Nicobar AIDS Control Society here. Around 25 cadets participated in the camp in which Commanding Officer and staff donated blood on the occasion. The Project Director, A & N AIDS Control Society, Dr Ganesh Samaddar, along with the staff of Blood Bank, GB Pant Hospital supervised the blood donation camp.

JNRM students’  stir
 Students of Jawaharlal Nehru Rajkeeya Mahavidyalaya (JNRM) here staged a protest in the college premises on Monday alleging violation of different provisions of the Lyngdoh Commission Rules. As per reports, a memorandum of demands which include direct election for the Students’ Council, setting up a Grievance Redressal Mechanism, post of joint secretary, grant of campaigning period and bar on entry of political parties during election period held on November  11 was submitted to the Principal of the institute. However, the management failed to take any action on the demands and conducted the elections in the seminar hall on Monday.
The president of Students’ Council, JNRM, Mr Pradeep Chakraborty, said that many students couldn’t participate in the election, which was conducted in violation of the Lyngdoh Commission recommendation. Moreover, the timing of the election is wrong as practical exams of many departments of the college are presently underway, he said.
