Isles Karatekas shine at Intnl. C’ship
 Eight Karatekas from these islands bagged three Gold and five Silver medals in the 3rd International Goju Ryu Open Championship 2017 organised by Okinawa Goju Ryu Karate Federation of India at Coimbatore. The winners were accorded a warm welcome on their arrival at the Veer Savarkar International Airport here on Tuesday. Shihan MS Murugan  led the team for the tournament at Coimbatore. Sensei Alagar Swamy, T Swetha and D Nandhisvarhan secured Gold medals, while Vansh Lall Patel, S Rahul, S Hariharan, Kokila and Muthu Laxmi clinched Silver medals in the championship.

2 Naval NCC cadets selected for Rajasthan SNIC
Diverse activities to hone skills of cadets in parade, marchpast, drill, and physical training, besides lecture on coastal security, sports and cultural programme are being conducted at the Annual Training Camp 2017 of Naval NCC at ITF Ground here.  Around 280 cadets from different parts of these islands including senior cadets of JNRM and Mahatma Gandhi Govt. College, Mayabunder are participating in the camp being supervised by Camp Commander, Lt. Commander, Jagatheesh Pandian.
After a meticulous selection process, two cadets were selected from the Special National Integration Camp (SNIC) scheduled to be held at Rajasthan, while two senior boy cadets and two senior girl cadets were selected for RDC Unit at Coimbatore. Cadets selected for RDC will proceed tomorrow for Coimbatore and later undergo training for two to three months before participating in the marchpast.
