Mentally unstable man jumps from 3rd floor

A middle aged resident of Garacharma is fighting for his life after he jumped from a three storeyed building on the 5th of this month. The person identified as Raghunathan is said to mentally unstable due to his heavy addiction to alcohol. He reportedly attempted suicide by jumping from a building located in Garacharma. He was initially admitted to the Health Centre at Garacharma, but later shifted to GB Pant Hospital for specialised care. Sources say that Raghunathan was completely addicted to alcohol and took the extreme step due to unstable state of mind. Eyewitnesses informed the incident to the Police, who rushed Raghunathan to Garacharma Health Centre where he sustained 48 stitches for his injuries. The patient, however, tried to run away from the hospital following which he was shifted to GB Pant Hospital, where he is being treated under close supervision of doctors and paramedical staff.

Misuse of govt. vehicles rampant
Despite clear directions from the administration cautioning the government officials to desist from misusing official vehicles, misuse of government vehicles by few officers and babus working in government departments have been rampant. EOI has been disclosing misuse of official vehicles for personal purpose. This Correspondent on Monday found an official car bearing registration number, AN O1 E 0049, of Secretariat waiting at about 7.30 pm near a private tuition centre at Goal Ghar to collect the children of a government babu. Dropping children to schools, tuitions, markets as well as picking up and dropping guests of senior officers of the administration to jetties has become a common sight in the city. Government vehicles have also been sighted dropping and picking up guests of senior government officials at airport, circuit house and private hotels as well as in tourism spots like Chidyatapu, Wandoor and Mount Harriet.   

Road mishap
Passengers on an auto rickshaw had a narrow escape when the vehicle in which they were travelling met with an accident near Corbyn’s Cove on Sunday. As per reports, the mishap occurred during heavy rains and winds in the evening hours as the autorickshaw driver lost control over the vehicle. The auto veered off the road and collapsed into a roadside drain. No one fortunately suffered injuries in the accident.
