Civic body initiates revamp of sewer line

Acting swiftly on the report published by EOI in a recent edition, the Port Blair Municipal Council has initiated steps to relieve residents from the prevailing insanitary conditions owing to overflowing sewage on the main road. According to reports, the civic body initially made a temporary measure  to prevent overflow from the sewer and then commence concrete work to ensure proper drainage network in the area. Works are in full swing and residents are elated over the prompt response from the civic agency.
The Echo of India, in its edition on February 28, reported how residents of a thickly populated area in the city were bearing the brunt of insanitary condition. A faulty sewer system, overflowing sewage on main road, at times entering houses has been posing serious health hazards to the residents of Japan Road for the past few years. The Municipal Council under the leadership of its Chairperson reacted promptly to the adverse report to ensure swift remedial measures.
