As a first step towards this, the Department will start collecting the sale proceeds of foodgrains from the FPS dealers through Point of Sale (PoS) devices. Similarly, Government receipt on account of calibration and stamping of weighing units shall also be collected through PoS by the Legal Metrology wing of the Department.
Initially, PoS devices will be put in places at Supply Unit Car Nicobar, Directorate of CS&CA Port Blair, Legal Metrology wing of the Directorate of CS&CA, Supply Unit Rangat and Supply Unit Mayabunder. Government receipt on account of sale proceeds of food grains through the FPS dealers of the above locations will be only through Point of Sales devices from May 1, 2017.
The FPS dealers of the above locations and other merchants using various weighing scales/units have been requested to get debit/credit cards from their respective bankers to facilitate transactions on a digital mode from May 1 onwards. Digital mode of transaction will also be put in place in other locations as and when PoS devices are made available.
