Commemoration of 74th anniv of first flag hoisting by Netaji

The day of 30th December has tremendous significance not only for the Andaman and Nicobar Islands but for all Indians. On this day in the year 1943, Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose hoisted the National Flag for the first time at the Gymkhana Ground, present Netaji Stadium.
The A&N Administration is all set to celebrate 74th anniversary of First Flag Hoisting day on 30th December in a befitting manner ensuring participation of general public. The main function will be held at the Memorial of 30th December, opposite Andaman Club .In order to create awareness on the significance of the day of 30th December among the general public and students, a series of events have been chalked out by the Administration.
The Department of Education will conduct School & College Level Quiz, Essay and Painting Competition on the significance of the day. The Department of Art and Culture through local Cultural organizations will be staging Street Plays and Nukkad Nataks and INA and Patriotic songs in public places to create awareness. Interested Cultural Organizations may apply to the Directorate of Art & Culture, Cellular Jail Complex on or before 26/12/2017.
