Comrade Pious D’Silva remembered

The 11th death anniversary of  Comrade R. Pious D’silva, former President of the Non-Gazetted Govt. Officers’ Association and CITU, A & N State Committee was observed on Thursday. A remembrance meeting was held at Crusade House, Phoenix Bay which was presided by Mr P Satyapal, President of the Association. Mr B.Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU, A & N State Committee remembered the struggles and sacrifices made by Com. Pious D’Silva for the benefit of government employees and workers. Mr D.Ayyappan, General Secretary, A & N Gazetted Officers’ Association while recalling the efforts made by Com. Pious D’Silva called upon the government servants and workers to organize against the anti-employee policies of the government which is shrinking the government sector by encouraging privatisation.  He said that govt. employees and workers in the islands have got all the benefits through struggles and today these benefits are being taken away.  Mr T.S.Sreekumar, General Secretary called upon the the leaders and activists of working class movement to emulate the honesty, dedication and hardworking of Com. Pious. to work for the benefit of employees & workers.
Mr B.C.Bhattacharjee, ASNVMS leader, Mr S.N.Mishra, Vice President, NGOs’ Association, Mr S.L.Vinjit, Secretary, South Andaman Teachers’ Branch, Mr Jay Moorthy, Mr Gopal Ch. Dey, Mr GP Mandal also spoke on the occasion. Mr R.Surendran Pillai, Asst. General Secretary of the Association expressed vote of thanks.
