The Communist Party of India (Marxist) South Andaman Rural Zonal Committee campaigned for two days recently in rural South Andaman against anti-people policies of the Central Government and drastic cuts in union budget for 2018-19 in sectors concerning common people and peasantry. Street corner meeting and public meeting were conducted at Wimberlygunj and Chouldhari. It was presided by Dr. Gouranga Majhi Secretary South Andaman Rural Zonal Committee. The meeting was addressed by Com. K.G. Das, Secretary CPI (M) State Committee, D. Laxman Rao Secretariat Member, Dr. Gouranga Majhi, Secretariat member, Com. Raj Kumar Saw Party member, Com, S. Chidambaram, Party Member. The speakers highlighted the NDA Government’s failure in fulfilling electoral promises such as reducing the price of essential commodities, Job for un-employed, remunerative price of farmer’s crops as recommended by Dr. M. S. Swaminathan in Nation Agriculture Commission. Promises are made for development for all but, fulfils only capitalist greed. Common people are unable to overcome from the bad effect of demonitisation and on the other hand NDA Government brought in G.S.T heaping of sorrow upon sorrow. They spoke on problems of transport sector in A&N Islands as Road conditions are pathetic. P.W.D’s failure to supply Drinking water and Electricity to all and remote villagers is in a sad state. People are disgusted by promises by the Government. Not a single college has sufficient teaching staff depriving students of their right to good education. Public is harasses as top officers are mostly not found in their chairs, as they are busy in meetings or field work etc. A&N Administration and M.P have been announcing time and again that new passenger ships & boats are coming soon but two unserviceable ships were hired by Administration on contract basis. LPG supply in rural area is irregular. CPI (M) urges all citizens of the islands to stand up for their rights.
