CPI(M) City Zonal Conference held

The 3rd Port Blair City Zonal Conference of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), was held at Com. S.C. Biswas Nagar (Shaheed Bhavan, Anarkali) on Sunday. Delegates and Observers representing Branch Committees in the Port Blair Town area attended the Conference which was inaugurated by Mr K.G. Das, State Secretariat Member of the Party. 
Addressing the conference, Mr KG Das dealt in brief the political situation prevailing in the country.   Referring to the widespread attack on minorities and  dalits in the country, he said that the BJP government at the Centre is dividing the country on the lines of religion and a terror situation is created in the country where the minorities feel insecure.    He expressed concern over the increasing number of suicide of farmers in the country due to the wrong policies being followed by the NDA government.   Mr D. Laxman Rao, Secretary, CPI (M) A & N State Organising Committee   said that due to the wrong economic policies of the central government, unemployment is increasing, while lakhs of workers are losing their jobs after the demonitisation and implementation of GST.   He called upon the party members to expand the party in the Port Blair town area in order to fight for various burning issues of the people living in the town. 
Smt D. Hemlatha, Secretary, Port Blair City Zonal Committee presented the working report of the Committee for the last three years and also Accounts Statement which were passed unanimously after  discussion. 
Earlier, Dr Gouranga Majhi, State Secretariat Member of the Party welcomed the participants in the Conference. Mr P. Banerjee presented condolence resolution.   The Conference began with the hoisting of party and paying tributes to the martyrs.  An eight member Port Blair City Zonal Committee was elected in the Conference with Smt D. Hemlatha as Secretary.
