In a tragic incident, a 21-year-old private labourer reportedly died after he was dragged to high seas by a killer crocodile at Wandoor on Sunday.  According to sources, the victim, identified as Bishnu Hari Mondal, a native of Midnapore  in West Bengal, was swimming outside the safety nets fitted by the Department of Environment and Forest at Wandoor beach when suddenly the beast attacked him.
As per reports, visitors present at the location immediately informed the Police and the Forest Department after which the cops from PS Humfreygunj rushed to the spot. Finding no boats available at the beach, Police and Forest officials rushed to Wandoor Jetty and chased the saltwater crocodile in deep seas. The crocodile, as per sources, freed the victim from its clutches after hearing the noise of engine dinghies after which the body drowned in high waters. As per latest information, Police, Forest, Coast Guard and private boat operators are engaged in a joint operation to retrieve the body of the victim.
