CS launches coaching camp on swimming

The four-week  long Swimming Coaching Camp/Hobby Classes got underway in the Swimming Pool, Netaji Stadium, with its inaugural function held in the Swimming Pool complex here today. The Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Mr Anindo Majumdar inaugurated the camp as the chief guest. The Coaching Camp is being organized by the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs for the children below 16 years of age, both boys and girls.
Inaugurating the camp, the Chief Secretary said that it is an excellent opportunity for the children to learn swimming and therefore, children who have been registered for the coaching camp should make best use of the opportunity. Swimming is the best physical fitness sport and will also drive away fear of water from children. He advised the children to enjoy the camp and learn swimming so as to participate in swimming contests. The Chief Secretary also informed that another swimming pool will be constructed to enable maximum participation of children in learning swimming.
In her welcome address, the Secretary (Sports), Ms. Tanvi Garg informed that the swimming coaching classes will be held in two sessions daily. There will be of two hours classes in the morning and in the evening as well, in which both boys and girls will take part, she said.
As many as 192 children are attending the camp, of which 100 are boys and 92 are girls. Mr A K Dwivedi, Director of Sports & Youth Affairs proposed the vote of thanks.
