CS launches portal for online application, issue of Fire Clearance Certificates

As part of providing efficient service to the citizens, the portal for online application, processing and issue of Fire Clearance Certificates by the A&N Fire Service was launched by the Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Mr Anindo Majumdar at a programme organized by the A&N Police at GO’s Mess, Police Head Quarters here this afternoon. The programme was also attended by Senior Officers of Administration, A&N Command, Coast Guard, Forest and Police Departments.
In his address, the Chief Secretary lauded the Police Department for the launch of the portal. He said, as far as ease of doing business is concerned, the A&N Islands’ ranking has improved considerably over the years. However, he said, there is still a long way to go. Recalling the prompt action taken by the Fire Department towards averting a major fire mishap, which occurred at Babu Line in Dec. 1996, the Chief Secretary lauded the Fire Department for the commendable service rendered. He also urged the Police Department to automate all the online processes involved and to re-engineer it for faster and easier service delivery. The Chief Secretary also stated that it is the responsibility of every citizen to take fire precautionary measures; adding that fire safety in all offices, establishments have to be put in place to prevent fire accidents.
Speaking about connectivity issue, being a challenge for the smooth implementation of online services here in the Islands, the Chief Secretary remarked that once the OFC project is completed, it will benefit the Islands to a great extent and in the years to come, we would be in a position to leverage IT in various platforms. The Chief Secretary also urged all the Departments to move online to deliver efficient services to the people.
The Chief Secretary also handed over the Fire Clearance Certificates to Mr Girish Arora, Prop. Sea Shell Hotels & Resorts and Smt. Khatija, Head Mistress, Al Ameen Public School on the occasion Welcoming the gathering, the DGP, A&N Islands, Smti. Nuzzat Hassan highlighted the efforts made by the Police Department towards ensuring efficient service delivery to the citizens by launching various online portals. She said, the online Portal for Fire Clearance Certificate is developed as an integral part of Single Window Clearance System and with the launch of this; enterprises in A&N Islands will be benefitted to a great extent. The Portal has been developed by NIC, Andaman for the Fire Service Department to provide online Fire Clearance Services for enterprises of A&N Islands, the DGP added.Mr Narayanan of NIC presentation explained about the features and functions of the Portal for Fire Clearance Certificate. He also highlighted about the various initiatives undertaken by NIC towards ease of doing business.  The Superintendent of Police (Fire Brigade), Mr Deepak Yadav, proposed the vote of thanks.
