Cultural evening in support of Kerala flood victims

A cultural event was organised jointly by JNRM, ANCOL, Pondicherry University, PBMC and CISF team of Port Blair last Saturday in the auditorium of PBMC in support the flood victims of Kerala. A variety of cultural programme from classical to traditional Nicobar dance was performed by the students of JNRM, ANCOL, Pondicherry University and CISF Jawans. The team of CISF Jawans displayed self defence tactics to the august gathering. A short film on Velayin Marupakkam directed by Dr Harish Kumar Mishra of Amirta Health Centre was also screened. The dignitaries who were present and supported the students on the occasion were Mr Vijay Singh, Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District, Mr V Jagatheesan ITS, CGM, BSNL, Port Blair,  Mr P.Sugendran, Director of Audit, Mr Naveen Kumar, DCF (Wildlife), Dr N Francis Xavier Principal, JNRM, Dr S Jayakumar Principal, ANCOL, Mr Praveen Mohandas, Labour Commissioner, Mr C Vijay Kumar, Dy Commandant, Coast Guard, Dr Mohan Raju, HoD Marine Biology, Dr Dharanidharan, HoD, Disaster Management, Dr Ganesh, Assistant Professor, Marine Biology, Dr N Balakrishnan, Associate Professor Political Science, JNRM, Dr Murali Krishna, Cardiologist of ANIIMS, Dr Harish Kumar Mishra, AMRITA Medical Centre, Dr Sivaperuman, Scientist and Incharge, ZSI, Dr Ganesan, Regional Director IGNOU. The Lions Club of Port Blair under the leadership of President Ln Subramanian and Secretary Ln Rajaguru, Ln Kannan (Treasurer) and Mr Soma Sundaram (Ex President of Lions Club) were present on the occasion. The programme was organised by Shri Daniel Dhanaraj, Dy Commandant, CISF VSI Airport and Mr K Venkatesan, Assistant Professor and Head of Home Science, JNRM and moderated by Dr N Lakshmi Assistant Professor, ANCOL and team.
