Day 3 of 64th All India Cooperative Week

The 3rd Day of the 64th All India Cooperative Week Celebration was inaugurated on Thursday in the conference hall of the RCS Office by Chief Guest Dr. R.N. Rath, Officer on Special Duty, Andaman Law College in presence of representatives of various Apex Level Cooperative, Govt. officials, PRI members and a large gathering of Cooperators.
Dr. Rath, spoke on the changes in Cooperative sectors and that the Law should be changed as per the time and demand, emphasising the main motive of Cooperatives is  ‘Reaching the unreachable’ and services to common man. He lauded the Cooperatives societies at Mahatma Gandhi College, Mayabunder for ration items.
Mr. Abdul Rasheed, ARCS spoke on enabling Legislation for Cooperative Development and need to bulid brand image of the Cooperative Society adding that various Cooperatives are in services like sugar supply, hand-looms, milk etc. across the country. Mr. Ravinder Rao, Managing Director, A &N State Cooperative Bank spoke on amendment in the paid up share capital from the existing slab of Rs.10,000 to Rs.100,000. highlighting  rules and regulations under the A & N Islands Cooperative Regulation Act 1973 and Rules 1974.
Mr. M. K. Srinivasan, General Manager, ANCOFED underlined examples of CCS and other Cooperatives of the Island and pointed to amendments needed like Public Private Partnership (PPP) for the changing times. Mr. Sanjay, Secretary, Inter Island Transport Cooperative Society talked on difficulties in transporting goods form Port Blair to Neil and Havelock Islands, asking the Administration to help.
Earlier, Mr. Anant Rao, General Secretary, A&N State Cooperative Union welcomed the gathering. Mr Rizwan Ali, Director, A & N State Cooperative Union proposed the vote of thanks.
