Day 4 of All India Cooperative Week at Humfreygunj

The 4th Day of the 64th All India Cooperative Week Celebration was inaugurated on Friday at Humfreygunj, Panchayat Hall by Mr. Rajender Pal, Block Development Officer (BDO), Ferrargunj as the chief guest in presence of representatives of various apex level cooperative, government  officials, PRI members and a large gathering of members of different cooperatives.
Mr. Pal informed that co-operatives play a vital role in the development at the village Samiti levels. He requested Co-op. Dept. to audit the co-operative societies and guide them to strengthen their  structure. He spoke on efforts by A & N State Co-operative Union in spreading the messages of co-operative movement across the Islands. He distributed certificates to the successful candidates of tailoring courses organised by A & N State Coop. Union and to various programmes of the Humfrygunj Panchayat carried out in collaboration with the Health Dept. and Disaster Management Dept.
Mr. M. K. Srinivasan, General Manager, ANCOFED also spoke on the examples of successful co-operative societies. Mr. Ravinder Rao, Managing Director of the bank highlighted the use of technology in co-operatives for more effective results. Mr. Abdul Rasheed, ARCS spoke on the topic highlighting the importance of Co-operative Week adding that co-operatives are the need of the country for SHGs to function as co-operative societies and yield more profits. He said that certain amendments are required in bye-laws of the co-operatives to engage themselves in PPPs. Earlier, Mr. Anant Rao, General Secretary, A & N State Cooperative Union welcomed the gathering. Mr. Surender Nath Singh, Project officer, NCUI, proposed the vote of thanks.
