DBRAIT innovators: Android app for disaster mgmt, Solar powered cart bag top awards

Android application for disaster management developed by students of Computer Department under the B.Tech stream of Dr BR Ambedkar Institute of Technology (DBRAIT) bagged the Best Project of the Year Award on Friday. Sandeep Lall, M.Soniya and Aniket Singh, developers of the application, received the cash award of Rs 10,000/- from the Principal Secretary, Education, Mr Rajiv Yaduvanshi, in the presence of Mr AK Trivedi, Joint Secretary of Education. Computer Based PA System developed by students of Electronics and Communication Department and development of High Strength Pervious Cement Concrete Blocks by students of Civil engineering secured the second and third prizes of Rs 5000/- and Rs 3000/- respectively.
In the Diploma division, Design and fabrication of Solar Powered Cart by Mechanical Department has been adjudged the Best Project of the Year developed by the students Sanjay Sarkar, G.Prem Kumar, P. Anil Kumar and S. Siva, followed with Design and Fabrication of Peltier Cooler by students of Electrical Department and Website, Biometric, Wi-Fi for Gram Panchayat, Namunaghar by students of Computer/ IT Department, who were adjudged second and third respectively.
In his address, Mr Rajiv Yaduvanshi congratulated the students and project team members and appreciated the students in taking up real time projects and making it functional. The judges also appreciated the efforts of the students to visit remote sites/fields & obtain samples/carry out survey which indicated the seriousness shown by the project team. Master B. Pavan Kumar of Class VIII, Khalsa Public school has been declared as the winner for the best feedback and was awarded cash prize of Rs 1000/-..
DBRAIT has been striving to impart practical oriented education for Diploma and Degree engineering courses. Students are encouraged to take up challenging & industrial application related real time projects so as to foster industry like environment and enhance their hands-on skill. The institute has started awarding the best project among the final year students of both the courses. This year the best project evaluation competition was organized on May 6 along with project exhibition for the general public and student’s community as a whole. Altogether, 30 projects were developed by the B.Tech students and 41 nos. of projects were developed by the Diploma students of various engineering disciplines.  The institute has formulated a Project Scrutiny Committee for Approval, Assessment and Evaluation of the projects developed by the students. All these projects were demonstrated which was followed by technical presentation by the students to the subject / local industry experts from Govt./Pvt. Establishments.  As a part of the evaluation, the experts very intricately examined the project presentation and demonstration and asked technical questions.
