Taking a strong note of public complaints, the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, has stalled the renovation of an existing CC Footpath at Brindaban No. 2 under Brindaban Gram Panchayat. According to sources, the Brindaban Panchayat had initiated steps for renovation of the existing CC Footpath from Main Road to Gobindo Jaydhar house at Brindaban –II  to benefit a single family in the area reportedly Mr Gobindo Jaydhara, former ward member and a close relative of the incumbent Pradhan, Shyamal Jaydhar.
As per reports, villagers submitted a mass petition to the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman opposing the renovation and accused the Pradhan of working in an authoritarian manner ignoring other requirements of the Panchayat. “There are many pressing demands of the Gram Panchayat here which are yet to be addressed. But the Pradhan has turned a blind eye to the issues and failed to take up the matters with the appropriate authorities,” said a villager of Brindaban.
Speaking to EOI, the Deputy Commissioner of South Andaman, Mr Udit Prakash Rai informed that the Executive Engineer of PRI has already been directed to inquire into the matter. “Orders have been issued to stall the renovation work and the inquiry report will be submitted in two days after which an appropriate decision will be taken.”
