DOSTI Camp by Butterflies

The NGO, Butterflies, organized a two-day annual vacation camp, DOSTI 2017, recently at Namunaghar Panchayat Hall, South Andaman. Around 150 children from 6 villages, Laal Bijan, Tapu Basti, Namunaghar, Attam Pahard, Laal Pahard and New Manglutan attended the camp, which was inaugurated by Mr. Rizwan, SHO, Ograbranch PS accompanied by Mr. Mithun, SI Ograbranch PS.  The inaugural function was also attended by Namunaghar Panchayat Pradhan Ms. Preethi, Child Helpline Centre Coordinator Ms. Meghna and Field worker Ms. Sukanya. The camp activities included indoor games and sports, art and craft workshop, Rangoli competition, career guidance workshop, cooperative kitchen, talent show, Nukkad Natak.
The guests interacted with children and urged them to approach the Police department and Child helpline without any hesitation whenever they are in need of  help. They encouraged the children to participate in the camp activities wholeheartedly and appreciated Butterflies’ in organizing such an engaging and child friendly camp.
Butterflies’ DOSTI camp 2017 was supported by Namunaghar Panchayat. It  provided the venue with all the necessary arrangements, for which Butterflies expresses its heartfelt gratitude towards Panchayat president Ms. Preethi, member Mr. Kanhaiya and rest of the Panchayat members.
As part of two-day programme, the theatre team of Butterflies presented a Nukkad Natak on Swacch Bharat at Namunaghar Junction, recently. The team comprises  children from different villages, who are associated with Butterflies Child Rights Organization. This Children concluded the Natak by urging the masses to swear by the cleanliness and hygenic practices in their daily lives and adhere by the Swacch Bharat mission. Namunaghar Panchayat president Smt. Preethi was present in the roadshow and appreciated the Butterflies’ children for their bold performance.
The NGO Butterflies also organized a career guidance workshop for adolescents at Namunaghar Panchayat Hall recently. Mr. Venketesh, Principal of Industrial Training Institute (ITI), Dollygunj was the resource person for the workshop. Around, 65 adolescents from six villages of South Andaman viz. Laal Bijan, Tapu Basti, Namunaghar, Attam Pahard, New Manglutan, Laal Pahad attended the workshop.
Mr. Venketesh took an introductory session with children regarding ITI and its various courses. The criteria for admission, the significance of learning vocational skills irrespective of higher educational background.  Mr. Venketesh advised the children not to be misguided by others who see ITI just as an instant key to secure a govt. job irrespective of the courses they pursue and become critical of ITI when they fail to secure a job. The workshop was facilitated by Butterflies’ Field Coordinator of South Andaman’s Ms. Latika Singh.
