Dr Roychowdhury attends international seminar on Bengali literature

The Head of Department of Bengali, JNRM here, Dr. Jyotirmoy Roychowdhury, chaired a session during the International seminar titled “Ekush Shatak: Bangla  O  Bangali (Twenty-first Century: Bangla and Bengali) ” held at  Berhampore Girls’ College of West Bengal recently. He spoke on ‘Condition of Bengali culture and language in Andamans in perspective of twenty-first century’ at the second day. The seminar was organised by the Girls’ College in collaboration with Department of Bengali of the University of Kalyani, West Bengal. Prof. Golam Mustafa of University of Chitagong, Prof. Shafiqunnabi Samadi of Rajshahi University (both were from Bangladesh), Prof. Savitri Nanda Chakraborty, HOD, Bengali, University of Kalyani, Dr. Shakti Nath Jha, renowned folklorist, Dr. Hena Sinha, Principal of the College and other dignitaries were present at the inaugural function and shared their views on preservation of mother tongue and own culture.
A collection of abstracts was also published by distinguished guests at inaugural session. On the second day of the seminar, Prof. Swapan Basu of Jadavpur University, Prof. Golam Mustafa, Prof. Shafiqunnabi Samadi, Prof. Bikash Roy of the University of Gour Banga delivered lectures on various topics related with the theme of the seminar. Dr. Papiya Banerjee, HOD and Dr. Madhu Mitra played a crucial role in making the seminar successful. Around two hundred research papers were acknowledged for the seminar.
