“It is payback time,” feels Mr. Asish Laha, the spirit behind the Echo of India Group of publications. Mr. Laha says, “The Echo of India, Port Blair edition, which was launched here a little over a decade, has been showered with immense love by the readers of these islands making us the most widely circulated newspaper in the isles, encouraging us constantly and making us grow from strength to strength, brick by brick. Therefore, it was time the newspaper got itself out of its comfort zone and ventured out to reach out to the isles society. EOI ISLES ICON AWARD is the first step. The award will be an annual event, which will bring together all islanders to choose their favourite to become the Icon of the Isles.”
The award will be given to a person, organisation or group who have excelled in making Andaman and Nicobar Islands proud nationally or internationally in the field of culture, social, sports, journalism and business or in any field deemed right. To be selected by an esteemed jury, the award will be presented in a glittering ceremony at Port Blair in the month of March, 2018 to be attended by the crème de la crème of the islands.
All are requested to read the announcements in the newspaper and send their nominations to EOI Andaman Icon Award 2018, The Echo of India, First cross, M.G. Road, Junglighat (near Mitali Book Store), Port Blair- 744103.
