Farm School on organic paddy farming established at Neil

The Department of Agriculture, South Andaman in association with Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) has established a Farm School on Organic Paddy Cultivation at Neil Island in the field of Mr Sukumar Das, Sitapur Village on Thursday. The farm school would provide season long technical training to the target farmers by having an interactive session once at least during each of the 6 critical stages of paddy crop.  The main objective of the farm school is ‘Seeing is believing’.
The first class of Farm School was held on Thursday during which Mr M.M. Hassan, Agriculture Officer, South Andaman explained about the organic packages of practices for paddy crop & also briefed about the nursery and main field preparation for paddy. Mr Daniel Anthony, JAA briefed about the importance of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna and requested the farmers to insure their Kharif crop in time. Mr K.Lokanadhan, ATM (ATMA), South Andaman explained about the procedure of making Bio-pesticides & waste decomposer.   Altogether 25 farmers attended the programme, which was organized under the supervision of Mr R.Y.Singh, Assistant Director (Agri.), South Andaman. Smt Seema, BTM proposed the vote of thanks.
