Fire onboard sea-going vessel at Junglighat Jetty

A major fire was reported on board a passenger vessel berthed at Junglighat Jetty on Monday. The mishap occurred at round 8.15 pm today when thick smoke was noticed in the bridge of the vessel. Immediately after  receipt of information, three fire tenders and one water douser was rushed to the spot after which fire fighters managed to bring the blaze under control.
According to sources, an electrical short-circuit is suspected to be the cause of the fire. The Fire Station, Aberdeen was informed immediately after smoke was noticed in the wheelhouse of the vessel. An audit has reportedly being ordered to assess the damages caused in the mishap.
