Five burglars arrested by Pahargaon Police

Five persons accused of dacoity have been arrested by staff of Pahargaon police station within hours of commission of crime. Rs 12,000 cash, ATM card and other identification cards of the victims have been recovered from the possession of the accused. On 09/07/18  Shri. Arun Ray, resident of Havelock along with his friend Saurab Mazumdar while visiting the busstand, Aberdeen bazaar met Smti. Priyanka Das with whom they were acquainted, Priyanka Das, hatched a conspiracy with her husband Rakesh Sharma and the other accused and invited the duo for dinner at their residence at Garacharma. In the evening at around 10 pm, Priyanka Das and her husband went to Aberdeen Bazaar in their auto rickshaw to pick Arun Ray and Saurab Mazumdar. While returning they drove the auto-rickshaw to a secluded place near seashore, behind Dena Bank, Garacharma and stopped abruptly. Soon a gang of three other men surrounded the auto rickshaw and started beating the complaint and his friend. They snatched  wallet, ATM cards and around Rs. 12,000 cash. They further forced the victims to withdraw Rs. 30,000 from nearby ATM. Meanwhile a group of  fishermen near the seashore witnessed the incident and raised an alarm. SI Shaji Mathew, Duty Officer PS Pahargaon and Constable V. Mohd. Shafeeq and Basheer immediately reached the crime scene and nabbed the accused Priyanka Das along with one accused Anurag and a juvenile while her husband Rakesh and another accused S.N. Dubey managed to escape.
The special squad of PS Pahargaon comprising Head Constable P. Babu Rao, PC Vijay Ram, PC SN Pathak, Bhaskar Rao and PC Manoj Yadav under the command of SI P. Jeevan immediately swung into action and launched a manhunt for the absconding accused persons. Soon the absconding accused Rakesh Sharma and SN Dubey were nabbed from their hideout at Garacharma. Due to the prompt and dedicated efforts of the police personnel of PS Pahargaon, under the direct command of Inspr. Sahil Shamsuddin, SHO Pahargaon and overall supervision of Shri. Nishant Gupta, Dy. Superintendent of Police, South Andaman, all the five accused involved in the dacoity were arrested in a remarkably short time. The South Andaman Police has requested public to assist police in passing information about anti-social elements on 100 (PCR) and 03192-232100 or respective Police Station on 03192-250525 and 9474260666. The informant will be suitably rewarded and his/her identity will be kept secret.
