Free health camp by CISF for truckers, van drivers

Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) organised a free health check up camp for truck and van drivers of Port Blair on Wednesday at Community Hall, Junglighat, Port Blair, Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Smt Shalini Singh Inspector General of Police Andaman and Nicobar Islands was the chief guest and Maj Gen Dr R P Choubey Director ANIMS, Dr Rohindra Lall Rohin's eye Hospital, Dr Mohanraju Professor & Head Pondicherry University and Shri K Ganeshan Legal Advisor to AN Islands Private Truck and Van Drivers Association and Ex Chairman PBMC were the guest of honour of the function. Speaking on the occassion, the Chief Guest congratulated CISF on their Golden Jubilee Year 2018-19 and appreciated the initiative taken by CISF. She also insisted all the truck and van drivers to undergo health check up on regular basis. The free health check up for the truck and van drivers is an initiative of CISF Deputy Commandant D S Daniel Dhanaraj as a welfare measure for the truck and van drivers, who often have poor working conditions, lack proper sleep, lack hygenic food,etc. The programme was organised by CISF Unit Port Blair Airport in association with Andaman & Nicobar Institute of Medical Sciences (ANIMS), Rohin's eye hospital and State Bank of India Port Blair. Medical team of ANIMS conducted a thorough check up for the truck and van drivers. Rohin's eye hospital conducted a thorough eye check up for the truck and van drivers. Dr Rohindra Lall appreciated CISF and informed the truck and van drivers that any defects in eye sight noticed will be referred for further treatment and the treatment will be completely free of cost. 82 truck and van drivers participated in the health check up. CISF Assistant Commandants Jitendra Jatoliya and Kamal Kumar Singh were also present in the occasion.
