Heavy rain forecast

The Indian Meteorological Department, Kolkata has forecast heavy rain (7-11cm) at isolated places over A & N Islands in the next 48 hours. Under the influence of moderate to strong Southwest Monsoon current, strong southwesterly wind speed between 25 and 35 kmph gusting to 45 kmph and generally rough seas are likely along and off Andaman & Nicobar coast. Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea. The general public have been advised to take precautionary measures and contact the State Control Room, District Control Room and Emergency Operation Centres in case of any emergency.
Meanwhile, the INCOIS Observatory, Hyderabad, has forecast high waves in the range of 3.0 - 3.3 meters between 5.30 pm on July 12 to 11.30 pm of  July 14 along the west coast of Andaman Islands between Ten Degree Channel and Coco Channel. Current speeds may vary between 50 – 89 cm/sec. Under the influence of moderate to strong Southwest Monsoon current, strong southwesterly wind speed between 25 and 35 kmph gusting to 45 kmph and generally rough seas are likely along and off Andaman coast. Fishermen are advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea. In Nicobar, high waves in the range of 3.0 - 3.3 meters are forecasted during  5.30 pm on July 12 to 11.30 pm of  July 14 along the west coast of Nicobar Islands between Ten Degree Channel and Great Channel. Current speeds vary between 73 - 106 cm/sec. Under the influence of moderate to strong Southwest Monsoon current, strong southwesterly wind speed between 25 and 35 kmph gusting to 45 kmph and generally rough seas likely along and off Nicobar coast.
