Heavy rain, high wind forecast

The Indian Meteorological Department, Kolkata has forecast heavy rain (7-11cm) at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands in the next four days. Under the influence of moderate to strong Southwest Monsoon current, strong Southwest to Westerly wind speed between 25 and 35 kmph gusting to 45 kmph and generally rough seas are likely along and off Andaman & Nicobar coast. Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea. The general public have been advised to take precautionary measures and contact the State Control Room, District Control Room and Emergency Operation Centres in case of any emergency.  Meanwhile,  The INCOIS Observatory has forecast high waves in the range of 3.0 - 3.4 meters between 5.30 pm on July 16 to 11.30 pm of  July 18 along the west coast of Andaman Islands between Ten Degree Channel and Coco Channel. Current speeds may vary between 51 - 72 cm/sec. Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea. In Nicobar, high waves in the range of 3.0 - 3.3 meters are expected during 5.30 pm on july 16 to 11.30 pm of July 18 along the west coast of Nicobar Islands between Ten Degree Channel and Great Channel. Current speeds may vary between 87 - 107 cm/sec. Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea.  The general public have been advised to take precautionary measures and contact the State Control Room, District Control Room and Emergency Operation Centres in case of any emergency.
