Heavy rain, strong wind forecast

The Indian Meteorological Department, Kolkata has forecast heavy rain (7-11cm) at isolated places over Andaman Islands in the next 24 hours. Under the influence of moderate to strong Southwest Monsoon current, strong Southwest to Westerly wind speed between 25 and 35 kmph gusting to 45 kmph and generally rough seas are likely along and off Andaman & Nicobar coasts. Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea. The general public have been advised to take precautionary measures and contact the State Control Room, District Control Room and Emergency Operation Centres in case of any emergency. 
Meanwhile, the INCOIS Observatory, Hyderabad, has forecast high waves in the range of 3.0 - 3.7 meters between 5.30 pm on 28 July to 11.30 pm of july 30 along the west coast of Andaman Islands between Ten Degree Channel and Coco Channel.  Current speeds may vary between 54 - 62 cm/sec. Under the influence of moderate to strong Southwest Monsoon current, strong Southwest to Westerly wind speed between 25 and 35 km. per hour gusting to 45 km per hour and generally rough seas are likely along and off Andaman coasts. Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea. In Nicobar, high waves in the range of 3.0 - 3.6 meters are forecast during 17:30 hours on 28-07-2017 to 23:30 hours of 30-07-2017 along the west coast of Nicobar Islands between Ten Degree Channel and Great Channel.  Current speeds vary between 81 - 102 cm/sec.   Under the influence of moderate to strong Southwest Monsoon current, strong Southwest to Westerly wind speed between 25 and 35 km. per hour gusting to 45 km per hour and generally rough seas are likely along and off Nicobar coasts.  Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea.
