High wind wave alert, rough sea forecast

The INCOIS Observatory, Hyderabad, has forecast high waves in the range of 3.0 - 4.3 meters between 5.30 pm on June 4 to 11.30 pm on June 6 along the west coast of Andaman Islands between Ten Degree Channel and Coco Channel. Current speeds vary between 73 - 111 cm/sec.  Under the influence of moderate to strong southwest monsoon current over the Andaman Sea, strong southwesterly wind speed between 25 and 35 kmph gusting to 45 kmph and moderate to rough seas are likely along and off Andaman & Nicobar coast.  In Nicobar, high waves in the range of 3.0 - 4.3 meters are expected between during 5.30 pm on June 4 to 11.30 pm on June 6 along the west coast of Nicobar Islands between Ten Degree Channel and Great Channel. Current speeds may vary between 81 - 110 cm/sec. Under the influence of moderate to strong Southwest Monsoon current over Andaman sea, strong Southwesterly wind speed between 25 and 35 kmph gusting to 45 kmph and moderate to rough seas are likely along and off Andaman & Nicobar coast.Under the influence of moderate to strong southwest  monsoon current over Andaman Sea, strong southwesterly wind speed between 25 and 35 kmph gusting to 45 kmph and moderate to rough seas are likely along and off Andaman & Nicobar coasts. Fishermen have been advised to be cautious while venturing into the sea. The general public have been advised to take precautionary measures and contact the State Control Room, District Control Room and Emergency Operation Centres in case of any emergency.
