India Skill Andaman & Nicobar 2018 underway

CS calls upon youth to avail maximum benefits

The three day IndiaSkill- Andaman & Nicobar-2018 got underway with its inauguration by the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, Mr Anindo Majumdar at ITI, Dollygunj here on Thursday in the presence of Mr Arava Gopal Krishna, Secretary (Labour, Employment & Training), A & N administration. The Chief Secretary also inaugurated the newly constructed Fitter Trade workshop in the ITI Campus.
In his address, the Chief Secretary called upon the youths to take advantage of the event and appealed them to move out of these Islands after attaining skill and seek employments opportunity in mainland as well as abroad, as these Islands do not have much Industry to provide them employment. He further informed that, the optic fibre cable (OFC) for telecom connectivity from mainland is going to be a reality very soon, after which there will be a major boost in various telecommunication related employments.
Mr M. K. Parial, Director of Training, Directorate General of Training, Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, ATI, Hyderabad, who is also a native of these islands, reiterated the need to respect the skilled man power and appealed the skilled youths of these islands to migrate to mainland and overseas for employment.
Mr Prakash Sharma, Chief Finance Officer, National Skill Development Corporation, New Delhi, wished all the competitors to actively participate in the event and advised them to aim for gold medal in the  WorldSkill competition to be organized in Kazan, Russia in 2019.
Welcoming the gathering, the Secretary (LE & T), Mr Arava Gopi Krishna, said that the IndiaSkill- Andaman & Nicobar-2018 is the first ever event being organized in A & N Islands. He also informed the various schemes of training provided at ITI, Dollygunj and stressed upon the need to strengthen the Apprenticeship Training Scheme in near future. Mr Venketesh. Ch.
