INTUC, CITU demand filling up of ‘mazdoor’ vacancies in PMB

The General Employees Union, Andaman Labour Force  led by Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma, president, INTUC and Port Dock workers union led  by Mr B. Chandrachoodan of  CITU jointly met the Chief Secretary, A & N Administration on Wednesday and  invited his attention  towards  the   ‘Vacancy Notice’ published in The Daily Telegram on 14th April, 2017 by the Andaman & Nicobar Administration for conduct of common recruitment examination for various Group ‘C’ categories of posts lying vacant in different departments of the administration and  informed that while doing so  nearly 150 vacant posts of mazdoor belonging  to Andaman  Labour Force and of Shipping  Godown both functioning under Port Management Board has not been included in the ‘Vacancy Notice’.
The Chief Secretary was informed  by Mr Kuldeep, president, INTUC  that the Port Management Board during  the year 2014 has invited application for filling up of vacant posts of Mazdoor belonging  to Andaman  Labour Force and Shipping Godown amongst various other posts such as Tally Clerk, Gate Keeper etc.   Mr Kuldeep expressed serious concern over the growing unemployment in the Islands and emphasized that the non filling the 150 sanctioned posts of mazdoors available with PMB  will definitely restrict the unemployed youth of their opportunity to secure Government job.  Mr Chandrachodan apprised the Chief Secretary  that whenever the demands for filling up vacancies of mazdoors were raised by the union, the Chief Port Administrator, PMB gave assurance to fill up the vacancies .  The union leaders jointly urged the Chief Secretary, A & N Islands who is also the Chairman of PMB  to include  150  vacant posts of mazdoor belonging to Andaman Labour Force and Shipping Godown in the Vacancy Notice published for   common recruitment examination. The Chief Secretary, A & N Administration, after giving a patient hearing, has assured to address the concerns on priority.
