IRCS trains DIET students on disaster response

The Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), A & N Branch conducted Mock Drill for DIET trainees on Saturday in the conference hall of the institute at Garacharma. Mr Lucas Robert, Principal, DIET College, appreciated Indian Red Cross Society A & N Branch, for organizing the drill event for the students to help others in the event of any disaster.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr.ThulasiDasan, M.D., Hon. General Secretary, IRCS, A & N Branch explained about the importance of First-Aid trainings in Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Altogether 60 students from DIET participated in the Mock Drill. The trainees were sensitized on First-aid, CPR, Bandaging, Shifting, Disaster Management, Water and sanitation (WATSAN) and to respond disaster like situation. The Mock Drill will help the trainees to respond at the times of disaster and other public health emergencies till expert help arrives. Miss. J.Sapna, DM Coordinator, Miss. D. Navina, First-Aid Trainer, IRCS, A & N Branch, Mr K. VenketRamana, NDRT Member and Mr Suresh, volunteer facilitated the Mock Drill event.
