JNRM Prof felicitated at Durgapur Poetry fest
The Head of Bengali Department, JNRM, Dr Jyotirmoy Roy Chowdhury was felicitated at the first plenum of Durgapur Poetry Festival recently by “ Litterateur Sukumar Bandyopadhyay memorial honour ” for his contribution to Bengali literature. The festival was held at Srijani Auditorium of Durgapur city on April 16. In a special memento presented to Dr. RoyChowdhury, it has been written that after going to peaceful green islands from West Bengal he dedicated himself more in writing poems and dissertations in which originality of his cogitation has been reflected.
Dr. RoyChowdhury recited a self composed poem in the perspective of Andamans. Around 170 poets were invited in this occasion from various corner of West Bengal and other states to present their self composed Bengali poems . The festival was organized by Kavita Utsav Committee which began with a colourful strolling of poets and cultural workers through the streets of the city . Veteran Bengali poet of 60’s and editor of renowned literary journal ‘Mahaprithibi’ Mr Shambhu Raksit inaugurated the festival by lighting lamp along with veteran poets Mr Ranjit Singha and Mr Kamal Chakraborty. Among famous poets Ranjit Singha , Kamal Chakraborty , Dhiman Chakraborty , Bikash Gain, Arup Panti, Umapada Kar , Prabir Das , Bharati Bandyopadhyay , Deepshikha Poddar , Ram Chandra Pramanik presented their poems . At the end of the function joint secretary of the festival Mr. Rajib Ghanti announced hence Durgapur Kavita Utsav will be organized to encourage poets and poem lovers every year .
