Kharif farming campaign held in SA villages

The Department of Agriculture, South Andaman under Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) has organized “Kharif Campaign” in different villages of South Andaman w.e.f. 29 June to July 26. During the campaign various flagship programmes of Govt. of India viz. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY), Paramparagat Krish Vikas Yojna (PKVY), Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojna (PMKSY) and other schemes of Department of Agriculture like Direct Benefit Transfer, Agriculture Marketing, Organic Farming, Seed treatment, Varietal replacement and Water use efficiency etc. were discussed.
On July  21 two campaigns each one at Sitapur and Ram Nagar villages of Neil Island was organized. During both the programmes Shri. Dasrath Verma, Member, Zila Parishad, Neil Island was the chief guest. During the campaign Shri M.M. Hassan, Agriculture Officer, South Andaman has briefed about the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Beema Yojana and Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for Agriculture inputs. He has also briefed about various schemes of the department. Shri. Ratan Sarkar, Agriculture Assistant, Neil Island has explained about the purpose of organizing this campaign and organic farming. Shri. Anthony Daniel, Junior Agriculture Assistant, Neil Island has discussed about the seed treatment and use of organic inputs. At the start of the programme Smt. Seema, Block Technology Manager welcomed the Chief Guest and the participants and Shri. Lokanadhan, Assistant Technology Manager proposed vote of thanks.  Similarly, Kharif Campaign was also conducted on 26th July, 2017 at Bharatpur and Laxmanpur villages of Neil Island.
