A group of  unemployed  youth met Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma, PCC president at Gandhi Bhavan and  discussed issue of  filling up the  post of teachers  under the  Education Department and submitted a copy of the  representation submitted  by them  to the Lt. Governor, A & N Islands. Mr Sharma took up the matter   with the Lt. Governor on Thursday. He said that in pursuance to  the  directions  issued by the  Lt. Governor  for filling  up all vacancies  available  under the Administration  on time bond manner,  the  Education Department  has published   Recruitment   Notice  for filling up  224 posts  of Primary School Teachers.   However a large number of eligible qualified candidates have lost  their chance  for appearing  the  recruitment  for the post of PST  due to over age.
The PCC  president  pointed out that  recruitment for the post of  PST  was  last held during 2016 and therefore  these    qualified candidates  have  lost their  opportunity  to appear the  recruitment process and they have now  crossed the age limit  for  appearing  the  recruitment process for PST.    He further informed that  in  similar  situation     in the past the Education Department and certain other departments of the A & N Administration  allowed one time  relaxation of age for 8 years considering lack of employment opportunities in these islands and also to the fact that the Administration being the major employment  provider.
In his letter, Mr Sharma urged the Lt. Governor  to consider  the  case   of over aged eligible qualified candidates for the post of PST  and issue  necessary instructions to   authorities  concerned to  allow one time age relaxation of 08 years  as was done in the past   so that the  eligible qualified  over aged  candidates  could also  appear in the    recruitment process for the post of PST  under the Education department.
